Canada is taking its music and creativity to the world stage! I am delighted to welcome CBC/Radio-Canada’s decision to participate in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, one of the world’s largest and most celebrated international music competitions.
Music has a unique ability to bring people together, tell our stories, and reflect the incredible diversity of our country. From English and French to Indigenous languages, Canadian artists continue to demonstrate exceptional talent, creativity, and ambition.
The global reach of Eurovision is unique and breathtaking. The 2026 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna attracted 131 million television viewers across 35 countries throughout Europe, providing a glimpse of the incredible international audience Canadian artists will have the opportunity to reach in 2027.
Canada is already the world’s third-largest exporter of recorded music, and Eurovision gives us an opportunity to build on that success, reach new audiences, and create new international partnerships through music.
As we continue working to strengthen Canada and safeguard our cultural sovereignty, bringing Canadian talent to an international stage like Eurovision is an exciting step forward. It is a chance to celebrate the many voices and cultures that make our country unique.
I look forward to seeing Canadian artists represent our country with pride, creativity, and confidence in 2027. Let’s get ready to cheer on Team Canada at Eurovision!
