Celebrating Women’s History Month

Every October, Canada celebrates Women’s History Month, a time to honor the incredible women and girls who have shaped our nation. From the trailblazers of the past to the leaders of today, these women have faced challenges, overcome barriers, and made significant contributions to every aspect of Canadian life. This month, we reflect on their achievements and recognize the work still ahead to ensure full equality and opportunity for all women.

As we highlight the courage, creativity, and resilience of women who continue to break new ground, we are reminded of the strength that drives progress. Despite systemic barriers and the challenges of today's economy, these women lead with determination, inspire future generations, and help build a more inclusive Canada.

Our government remains committed to advancing gender equality. We’ve invested $7 billion through the Women’s Entrepreneurship Strategy, helping over 400,000 women launch and scale their businesses. We’ve allocated $539.3 million through the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence to protect women and break the cycle of violence. And we’ve supported the Care Economy with $29 million to help over 5,000 homecare workers retire with dignity.

This month, and every month, we will continue to champion women’s success, amplify their voices, and ensure they have the opportunity to thrive. Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive Canada, where women are empowered to lead and shape the future. So, let’s continue to lift each other up, amplify women’s voices, and celebrate their achievements, because when women succeed, we all succeed.
