Every year on October 1, we take a moment to pay tribute to the seniors who have shaped Canada and who continue to enrich our lives each and every day. Seniors have made, and continue to make, profound contributions in every part of our society — in our homes, in our communities, and in the workforce. They are mentors, teachers, grandparents, volunteers, and role models who, through their wisdom and life experience, have helped build both our families and our country.
In Saint-Léonard—Saint-Michel, our seniors and the many Seniors Clubs that bring them together are a vital part of the community. These clubs do so much more than organise activities, they create spaces of belonging, joy, and connection. Week after week, they bring people together for gatherings, celebrations, and programs that help break down isolation, which unfortunately is something many seniors face. From regular weekly activities to special events like Canada Day celebrations and Holiday parties, these clubs remind us of the value of community and the importance of caring for one another.
I am so honoured to be welcomed into your lives and into these events, not only as your Member of Parliament but also as your friend. Every time I attend, I am reminded of the warmth, resilience, and generosity that seniors bring to our riding.
Seniors are family, and in Saint-Léonard—Saint-Michel, family is more than just a word, it is a commitment. A commitment to honour those who have come before us, and to make sure their contributions are always recognised and celebrated. Take the time to spend a moment with a senior in your life, you’ll be glad you did.
