This week, our Liberal caucus gathered in Edmonton to connect, plan and tackle the issues that truly matter to Canadians as we head into the Fall Parliamentary session. Our priorities remain clear: affordability, fair trade with the United States, and building strong, safe communities across Canada. With global economic challenges reshaping trade relationships, we are committed to protecting Canadian workers and businesses while expanding and diversifying our international partnerships.
This session, we will introduce key legislation to keep Canadians safe and secure. Bail Reform will target violent repeat offenders, ensuring they stay off our streets. The Strong Borders Act will enhance border security while safeguarding Canadians’ privacy and Charter rights and improve the integrity of our immigration system. These measures reflect our commitment to protect communities and build trust in our institutions.
At the same time, our caucus was unanimous that affordability remains a top priority. From housing initiatives to lowering costs, we are working tirelessly to ease financial pressures on Canadian families. Our government is investing in nation-building projects that will create high-paying jobs, support Indigenous partnerships, and boost economic growth across the country.
Crucially, our Fall budget will spend less so Canadians can invest more in the initiatives that will unlock private capital and unleash Canada’s potential to become the strongest economy in the G7. Canada’s new government will spend less so Canadians can invest more. Our government will target spending to improve efficiency and bring costs down for all Canadians.
As we move forward this Fall session our Liberal caucus is committed to building a stronger, more united Canada, one where prosperity is shared, safety is guaranteed, and economic opportunities abound. We’re just getting started. Together, let’s keep building the Canada we all deserve.
