Next week, my Liberal colleagues from across Quebec will gather for our first caucus retreat since the recent Federal Election. This retreat will be an important opportunity to prepare for the upcoming Fall Parliamentary session and to reflect on the valuable feedback we've received from constituents throughout the summer.
Quebecers elected us with a clear mandate: to defend Canadian interests and sovereignty, build more homes faster, and make life more affordable. That’s exactly what we are doing through our government’s focused agenda.
During the Spring session, we delivered on key promises including a historic tax cut benefiting 22 million Canadians and the passage of the One Canadian Economy Act, which eliminates federal barriers to internal trade and labour mobility. This legislation lays the groundwork for major nation-building projects that will strengthen our economy and unite the country.
Looking ahead to the Fall, Quebec Liberal MPs will continue to fight for affordability and support to help build stronger, safer communities. Key legislation will include Bail Reform that will keep violent repeat offenders off our streets and The Strong Borders Act, which will enhance border security, protect Canadians’ privacy and Charter rights, and improve the integrity of our immigration system
Quebecers will continue to see the positive impact of these measures in their everyday lives. I’m proud to be part of a government committed to building a stronger, safer, and more inclusive Canada, and I look forward to advancing this important work in Ottawa this Fall.
