I welcome the revised healthcare directive presented by the Quebec government this morning, after much opposition to the original version was contested with just reason.
The revised directive clearly states no validation of the user's identity is required to access these services in English. As well, an organization that has received recognition for the Italian language can continue to offer written and oral correspondence in Italian in addition to French.
Under the Canada Health Act, every Canadian has the right to access health care in the official language of their choice. This is an essential right inherent to the well-being of every single Canadian and Quebecer, and that I will continue to support it resolutely and unwaveringly.
Whether perceived or real, any impediments to this right must imperatively be addressed, and this clarification is a step in the right direction.
