Building more homes on public land!
Our country is facing a housing crisis that impacts all Canadians and their quality of life. We know we need to build more housing, faster, and with our 2024 budget we introduced historic measures that will unlock the construction of nearly 4 million homes by 2031. These investments and strategies will give Canadians access to housing that meets their needs and is affordable.
That's why the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, and the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities, announced that as part of the Plan to Build Housing on Public Land, we are launching a new tool for builders: Canada's Public Land Bank. Additionally, 5 new properties have been added to the bank, bringing the total of available properties to 56.
This list will be updated regularly over the coming months, and additional information will be made available to property builders.
