Air Accessibility Summit

This week, our Minister of Transport, the Honorable Pablo Rodriguez, and our Minister of Diversity, Inclusion & Persons with disabilities, the Honorable Kamal Khera, held Canada’s first ever Air Accessibility Summit.

This summit was an opportunity for persons with disabilities and stakeholders from across the air transportation sector to come together in Ottawa and discuss the various challenges faced by passengers with disabilities in accessing the transport that they need.

During the Summit, some immediate solutions were agreed to and will be implemented, such as a common intake form and improvements regarding data sharing. While these measures will help us to improve accessibility, we also recognize the need to have ongoing conversations on how we can continue to break down barriers to accessibility in the long-term.

We believe that we can collectively take a coordinated and deliberate approach to making air travel barrier-free for Canadians with disabilities, and we will continue our work to advance towards this goal.
